In the Carving workshop, learners need to learn to control their tools, whilst working in harmony with the growth patterns the tree has made.
Each one of the many tools used has a different effect on the workpiece.
Wood carving is very concentrated work: you can only remove small chips at the time, and then they need to be cut out at the right angle and depth.
Students and trainees use their acquired skills to make picture frames, lamp bases, bowls, name plates, etc.
