Support Worker Level 2
(Expected to have NVQ Level 2 or significant experience in care)
Responsible to House Manager
Responsible for:
- Working according to the Mission Statement of Coleg Elidyr and in the context of a Camphill Rudolf Steiner Community carry out responsibilities to the best of your ability out of love and care for the people and materials you work with.
- To abide by the policies and procedures of Coleg Elidyr
- Complying with all legal requirements for care as well as Coleg Elidyr policies and procedures
- Undertaking occasional ‘sleep-in’ duties as required
- Supporting and caring for the students in your care in accordance with their personal needs as set out in Care-plans, lesson plans, risk assessments and any other paperwork accompanying the students as well as arising in the day to day living
- Developing mutually supportive relationships and friendships with the students in your care
- Supporting the Camphill way of life, including celebrations of festivals, daily bible readings, graces before meals and weekly services
- Receiving and carrying out instructions on how to work with the students in accordance with the requirements of the person in charge of the activity
- Working with students in any number of situations and helping them to achieve the best possible results
- Caring for students’ / Coleg property
- Undertaking domestic tasks / personal care as required
- To report immediately any complaint, ill-treatment, abuse or incident in line with Coleg policies
- Helping to create a structured, supportive atmosphere where staff and students are supported according to their needs and where there is emphasis placed of teambuilding and individual growth for all as well as respect for others
- Attending meetings / training in all manner of aspects of your work
- Working according to daily timetables and work rotas
- Being punctual and reliable and informing the person in charge if you are unable to attend
- Supporting students in leisure activities
- Communicating with colleagues, relatives and other professionals
- Helping other staff to assess students' needs
- To record and observe progress of students
- Managing challenging behaviour with a non-confrontational, low-arousal approach
- Working together with members of staff in all areas in Coleg Elidyr to achieve best results for students and colleagues
- Any other responsibilities that go with the task.
