the Farm

The farm at Coleg Elidyr is about 185 acres (74 hectares) in size, and is a traditional Welsh Upland farm with cattle, sheep and some crops.
It is managed along Organic and Biodynamic principles.

As is the case with all our land work areas, the farm serves two purposes within Coleg Elidyr: on the one hand, it provides the community with meat and vegetables along with maintaining a pleasant space for people to live in; on the other hand, it provides an important area for training for students and trainees.

The variety of skills and disciplines involved in farming provide a sound all-round training: farm work includes animal care, working with a variety of tools in the barn, field or farm workshop, and of course plenty of excercise.
On the farm, one is able to experience the changing seasons, and the miracles of nature.

Working as part of a production team gives the young adults a sense of responsibility and dependability.
