Coleg Elidyr Camphill Communities operates two residential communities for the benefit of people with special needs.
Coleg Elidyr Rhandirmwyn is a residential college of further education and training for young people with special needs aged 18 – 25+ which provides a 3 year Foundation Programme and a Trainee and Transitions programme.
Victoria House (Coleg Elidyr) provides residential care, work opportunities, social integration and learning and training opportunities for people with special needs from the age of 21 fully integrated in a small village setting.
Generally the residents come from England and Wales and their fees are paid for by government agencies or local authority social services departments.
The public benefit provided by Coleg Elidyr Camphill Communities is the provision of residential care, education and training of people with a disability.
The provision is run in accordance with the principles of Dr Rudolf Steiner and aims to provide to or procure for the beneficiaries, education, training, leisure activity and work, within or outside the community or communities as well as support in family style housing, suitable care and healthcare, medical treatment and personal support through Anthroposophical, social, cultural and spiritual practices.
Coleg Elidyr Camphill Communities believe that the adherence to the Rudolf Steiner principles ensure that those people with special needs that become residents with us live, learn and work with others in healthy, mutually supportive relationships based on care and respect and on a strong feeling of belonging. The residents generally develop an enhanced level of confidence and self esteem that helps them become more independent and to develop the ability to contribute towards the wider society, no matter how small this contribution may be.
Coleg Elidyr Camphill Communities actively encourages the residents to obtain qualifications through relevant accrediting processes. This can take place in the classroom, in the workshop, in the work area and as part of the life-skills developed in the residential living environment.
